Barcelona 19 February 2023 – Charles Langat runs a new course record in Barcelona. He made the race after Isaac Kipkemboi fulfilled his pacing duties upto 12km. After Charles won Dam tot Damloop last September in The Netherlands, his focus was on running a faster 10km as well as a fast half marathon. On 15th January 2023 he became 2nd in 26:57 in Valencia on the 10km and with this time he was ready to set a new personal best on half marathon. His personal best was set in Lisbon half marathon, 60:44.
Today Charles Langat broke the courserecord from 59:06 to 58:52 and with this he improved his personal best with almost 2 minutes.
Participating in Barcelona was still a bit questionable after feeling unwell 2 weeks ago. Charles was relieved to feel better quickly and had only one target: winning Barcelona half marathon and running a course record.
‘I’m very happy with another victory and ofcourse a personal best.’ says Charles. ‘Running in Spain has been so favourable to me. I am looking forward to what 2023 still has in store for me.’
