Herzogenaurach, 29 April 2023 – 6 races, 5 personal bests, 4 days with the Three Stripes Family, 3 debutes, 2nd place for Nigsti Haftu on half marathon, 1 world class event and 0 regret.

With 11 athletes of Team Volare at the start on different distances, this weekend was successful. Nigsti Haftu started with the first distance organised: the half marathon. Leading the race and making sure the pace went up, she was definitively the strongest of the field. The finish was exciting and just in the last few metres overtaken. Nevertheless she made a wonderful race in 67:44, same time as Sura Bertukan who won the race. Unfortunately a DNF for Medhin Beyene with hamstring issues.

Mathew Kimeli who is coming back after sickness, is satisfied with a 4th place in 60:16. The wind became more of a factor in this race. Kibrom Haftu placed 15th in 62:42.

On 10km Veronica Loleo made a wonderful personal best. She improved from 31:52 to 30:53 and with this personal best of a minute, she made a great race and placed 7th in a strong field of women. Nelly Jeptoo improved her PB to 31:46.

Isaac Kipkemboi ran his 3rd 27’on 10km this year, placed 14th in 27:56. Geoffrey Koech ran 28:06.

New to the team and debuted in Europe: Letebrhan Gebrewahd 15:39, Meseret Tefri 16:21 and Mesay Guteta 16:25. All 3 on 5km.
